The following options are temporary and will work well for your child’s first six months of lessons.
By the six-month mark, students must transition to a weighted-key digital piano (or an acoustic piano) in order to build proper hand technique.
Non-weighted or semi-weighted keyboards may seem fine at first, but they don’t give the right resistance or feel. Over time, this causes students to use incorrect movements, making it difficult to play loudly (no finger strength), quickly (poor control), or for longer periods (hand fatigue).
Once those habits set in, they can be very hard to correct, so the right instrument matters early!
You can start with one of the beginner options below to make sure your student enjoys lessons and stays consistent before investing in a longer-term instrument.
